The Homer City Area Athletic Boosters was founded to provide as many children as possible the opportunity to participate in youth sports. So, we ascribe to 3 main points of emphasis:
- Every effort should be made to make the program as affordable as possible.
- Skills development will always take priority over winning. While success is important in athletics, instilling basic skills and abilities specific to each sport should be a priority for all involved. Program setup, Team Selection, practices, and game participation should all be directed toward the goal of developing basic skills.
- In-House/regular season play takes priority over travel teams. While acknowledging that travel teams are the new norm in youth sports, they do not afford the maximum number of youth the opportunity to play; therefore inclusive in-house leagues should take priority over exclusive travel teams in terms of funding, field/gym time, and equipment usage.
